La ruta de senderismo por el desfiladero de Samaria te lleva directamente al corazón más agreste de Creta. Empezarás con un trayecto en coche por la costa hasta La Canea, para luego ascender por las Montañas Blancas hasta la meseta de Omalos. En este parque nacional protegido, comenzarás tu descenso por el desfiladero más largo de Europa, cubierto de flores silvestres y bosques de pinos. Con paredes escarpadas de hasta 700 metros de altura y un punto más estrecho de tan solo tres metros de ancho, esta ruta no es apta para los pusilánimes, pero el paisaje bien merece el esfuerzo. Incluso podrías avistar la cabra cretense, el «kri-kri», una especie en peligro de extinción. Pon el broche final a tu aventura con una visita al pueblo pesquero de Agia Roumeli y un relajante baño en el mar de Libia, seguido de un pintoresco paseo en barco por la espectacular costa sur de Creta.
