The tour departs from El Calafate and head along the famous Route 40. This iconic highway goes along the Argentino Lake up to the La Leona River. Passing the Cañadón La Leona, you will arrive to the ancient route hotel "La Leona". Here you can have a break for coffee and cakes. Then, you will continue along the Lake Viedma. From here you can admire the magical views of glaciers, hidden lakes, and the glory that is Mount Fitz Roy. You will have time to take some pictures, before continuing the itinerary to the Andean village El Chalten, also known as the "The Capital of the Trekking".
You will briefly visit the Interpretation Centre and then the group will be divided according to their chosen option. This tour includes the self-guided hikes option: From the Pudu Lodge, you will start a self-guided trek to one of the miradors of the Mount Fitz Roy and Mount Torre. You will receive a map and a packed box to carry in your backpack. This option is perfect for the independent traveller. You should return to base at 6.00pm to meet back up with the group.
The DeAgostini base camp - Laguna Torre is one of the most classic treks of El Chaltén. It takes you up to the Adela range and the incredible Lagoon Torre. Here you can see some icebergs that have slid down from the face of the glacier Cerro Torre.
