Istanbul has a pretty unique claim-to-fame - it's the only city in the world that straddles two continents. See some of it's must-see's on a walking tour around the capital, exclusively for you and your party. Markets, bazaars, and a quick ferry to Kadikoy are all lined up on the agenda. 'You’ll discover Istanbul through the eyes of a local, enjoying a peek inside the culture and social life of my city', says Emrecan, one of our guides.
The tour starts on the European side of the city, in the heart of Beyazid Square. Sitting in the shadow of Istanbul University's main gates, it's full of impressive sights. Take a look inside of some of the areas biggest bazaars, including the Grand and Old Book bazaars, whilst your guide tells you about their rich history. Then, it's off to the popular shopping district of Tahtakale, where you'll also spot Rüstem Pasha Mosque. Dating back to the 16th-century, it's a great place to snap those all-important Instaworthy pics.
When Emrecan speaks of Istanbul, he describes it as 'a magical meeting place, where East meets West'. We'll continue the tour with a short ferry across to the Asian side of the city. Take a walk around the residential area of Kadikoy, where you'll get an insight into typical Turkish life. There's also a quick trip to it's famous fish market, before rounding off the tour with a stop in an authentic coffee shop.
