This walking tour covers a two-and-a-half-kilometre patch of Berlin, meaning you’ll really get to grips with the city’s mishmash of architecture styles on top of all the sightseeing. Speaking of sights, the most significant ones you’ll visit are the remains of the Berlin Wall and the Brandenburg Gate. The former was built by the East German government in 1961 and separated the capital into eastern and western districts until it was torn down in the 1990s. While you're here, you’ll hear about the mood of the city’s two halves during the time it was split. What's more, you'll also check out Checkpoint Charlie, the best-known crossing point in the Berlin Wall.
The Brandenburg Gate, meanwhile, is an 18th century Neoclassical monument that takes pride of place near the centre of the city. This giant pillared archway is the perfect backdrop for selfies – just make sure you get the horse-drawn chariot on top in frame. During your tour you’ll also check out the Bebelplatz, a square in the Mitte district that’s home to the Berline State Opera, St. Hedwig’s Cathedral – it's over 250 years old – and the Reichstag, AKA one of the country's most important parliament buildings.
