Budapest is a city of many layers, and this tour invites you to savour each one. Starting at a fine riverfront square with sweeping views of the Buda side, the route moves through downtown Pest with purpose: a lángos counter that fries dough to golden perfection, a three-generation family restaurant whose founders invented Hungary's first lunch delivery service, and a small shop inside a covered market for house-made spreads and crackers.
Along the way, learn about the history of the Cold War's unlikely first fast-food queue; the story of goulash long before it became a national dish; enjoy a sparkling grape must from UNESCO-listed Tokaj wine country; and pass through the Jewish Quarter to admire street art and step inside a legendary ruin bar.
All of this happens in a small group of no more than 12 guests, with plenty of room to ask questions along the way. Morning tours end with a chimney cake to eat on the go; afternoon tours end sitting down with a vegan version of a classic Hungarian dessert.
