The inside story

Take a ride into the past at the Hoorn-Medemblik Steam Tram Museum (or Stoomtreinmuseum in Dutch). Operating a heritage railway between Hoorn and Medemblik, this historical museum and steam tram service authentically replicates the Dutch steam tram experience.

The Hoorn-Medemblik Steam Tram Museum, located at a preserved station in Hoorn, houses a vintage collection of steam tram locomotives, wagons, and coaches. The most notable part of the collection is the 7742 Bello steam locomotive, the last remaining light steam engine in the Netherlands.

Opened in 1887, the Hoorn-Medemblik Steam Tram Museum’s special railway line spans an approximate distance of 20 km between Hoorn and Medemblik. The ride is quite scenic and shouldn’t be missed if you’re in the area.
