What to expect

Visit one of the most majestic cathedrals of the world. On this tour, escorted by a tour guide prepared in accordance with the Curia of Venice, enjoy a full visit of this masterpiece of byzantine art, unique of its kind in Italy, you'll have the pleasure to savour beautiful gold mosaics and marble inlays of the floors, while the guide shows you the represented biblical scenes, the history and the particularities of this ancient basilica.

Then, enjoy a guided tour in the Palazzo Ducale which represented for centuries the seat of the Venetian political power. In his splendid rooms, plastered and immersed in hundreds of masterpieces of painting, the Doge and his Council controlled the fate of a thousand-year history republic. Live it together with a guide who shows you the halls of power, plunging you in a very particular historical context: the European Middle Ages and the immediately following centuries.

Be surprised of the rich details of the gold staircase, of the realism of the scenes depicted by many artists who have decorated this building.

Meeting point:

From St. Mark’s Square, face the Basilica and turn right towards the Doge’s Palace. Continue past the Bridge of Sighs to Riva degli Schiavoni (the waterfront promenade). Walk for 2 minutes, then turn left into Calle de le Rasse. The Venice Tours Office is at number 4536; look for the sign at the entrance. Please be at the meeting point 10 minutes before the departure time.

The official St. Mark’s Basilica ticket price is €12.00 per person (standard) or €24.00 with terrace access; the remaining part of the price covers assistance at the meeting point, accompanied entry with a certified guide or host, access to the Venice Gallery with a dedicated VR experience, the use of an audio guide or radio system with earphones and sales costs

Not allowed:

For security reasons sacks, bags, or rucksacks are not allowed inside the Doges’ Palace (free deposit inside)

Know in advance:

With the same ticket, you can visit by yourself other museums in St. Mark's Square: Old Royal Palace now Museo Correr, Museo Archeologico Nazionale and the monumental rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana
For the visit of the Basilica proper clothing is required (no shorts or tank tops)
During days of high turnout or for reasons of force majeure (such as high tide or security problems) the waiting time to access St. Mark's Basilica might be longer than expected
