Get a taste of traditional Provence life at a slower pace during this day tour from Aix en Provence.
You will first reach the exceptional village of Les Baux de Provence. From the Middle Ages, the village has kept the narrow streets, the Renaissance-styled private mansions, the imposing ruins of a castle and the memory of the proud lords and troubadours. From the rocky spur, it's a breathtaking view on an exceptional scenery.
Discover the Pont du Gard, a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. The Roman architects and hydraulic engineers who designed this bridge, which stands almost 50 m high and is on three levels – the longest measuring 275 m – created a technical as well as an artistic masterpiece. The Museum relating to this is not included.
To follow the path of the history, you will arrive in Avignon, the city of the Popes in the 14th century. Do not miss the breathtaking view on the Rhone River from the Saint-Bénezet Bridge famously called Pont d'Avignon and choose to visit the Pope's Palace, which remains the biggest Gothic palace in all Europe (entrance fee not included).
Last stop of the tour is Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a small typical village surrounded by vast vineyards. You will have the chance to taste whites and reds wines of the Côtes du Rhône label in a small winery.
