What to expect

The Picasso Museum and the surrounding Gothic and Ribera quarters in Barcelona are testimony to the close tie between the artist and the city. On this 2.5-hour walking tour you’ll learn about this bond and enjoy the Gothic Quarter's charming corners and hidden squares on a unique virtual reality experience.

Admire the façade of the Gothic Cathedral that took 6 centuries to build from its beginnings in the 13th century. See the remnants of the Roman wall at Plaça Ramon Berenguer.

Enjoy skip-the-line admission to the Picasso Museum, and be inspired by the first steps of Pablo Picasso as an artist. The museum is key to understanding the development of this young artist during the years 1887-1901.

Stroll through Plaça del Rei, a medieval marvel with the Tower of King Martí, the 15th-century Chapel of Santa Àgata, and the 14th-century Saló del Tinell. It is said that the Catholic monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabela, received Columbus here on his return from America.

You will then head to the Gothic Quarter for your virtual reality tour. This is the core of the city, where it all started 2000 years ago. During this tour you will make 3 stops to travel back in time to the Roman age and have a better understanding of the origins of the city. For that you will observe the streets with virtual reality glasses. What you will see? First stop is the Roman Tinctoria, where fabrics were dyed — an important business, as the color of one’s clothes was an signifier of rank or role in Roman society. Second stop is the Temple de Augustus forum. This a large public square which stood at the center of urban life in Roman Barcelona. Your guides will explain to you the secret history of its interior. Finally, the third stop is the Roman Wall & Moncada Aqueduct. As an important hub of trade, the Roman “Barcino” was protected by impressive city walls and watered by the Moncada aqueduct.
