As you leave Inverness behind, you'll head south towards the Cairngorms National Park to your first stop of the day, Carrbridge. You'll be able to wander around the forrest village of Carrbridge, check out the old Packhorse Bridge and enjoy some local treats. Then, you'll hit the road again and pass by Aviemore which takes you towards the Cairngorm Snow Sports Range and above the tree-line for a stunning view of the rolling mountains. You'll have some time in the Glenmore Forest Park to take a stroll through the woods to Loch Morlich, admire the sandy beach and ancient pine trees or visit the visitor centre and learn more about it. There'll be a lunch stop in Grantown-on-Spey before heading to Dufftown and the famous Glenfiddich Distillery.
This distillery produces the largest quantity of whisky in Scotland and is filled with traditions and history. You can enjoy a tour here and learn more about the 'water of life' as well as have a tasting of the core range of tasty whiskies. Your final stop of the day will be the ruins of Balvenie Castle which make the perfect photo. If you want to skip the distillery tour, you could even head to the ruins earlier and soak up the history for a bit longer.
