The inside story

Located in eastern Utah and lying by the Colorado River, Arches National Park is the park with the highest density of natural arches in the world. On average, more than 1.7 million visitors come to check out the natural beauty of this park.

Across the park, you will have the chance to spot more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches as well as a variety of unique geological resources and formations, including hundreds of soaring pinnacles and massive rock fins. Help guide your way through the park with an audio tour or take in the scenic views from up above on a helicopter tour.

Some of the park's attractions include Balanced Rock, a huge rock, the size of three school buses, Fiery Furnace, an area of maze-like narrow passages and tall rock columns, and Devils Garden, consisting of many arches and columns scattered along a ridge.

Stop at the Delicate Arch, the lone-standing arch that has turned into the ultimate symbol of the park. The park's largest free-standing arch has an opening that measures 46 feet high and 32 feet wide. Discover a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms, and textures and take in the breathtaking beauty of its sunsets.

The park is open year-round but the busiest time of the year is from May to the end of September. If you want to avoid large crowds then it is best not to visit during the weekend or on holidays. Also, pay a visit during the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the rush.
