Get the best in both worlds by joining this tour. Visit two of Nairobi’s best-known wildlife conservation centers and end the tour with a small-scale farming program that is for Kenyan grandmothers.
Your first stop is the Giraffe Centre that is initiated by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife, a Kenyan non-profit organization. Meet the giraffes and learn about everyone's role in preserving wildlife and its habitats. Next, you will visit the elephant orphanage at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust on the edge of Nairobi National Park. Watch the baby elephants being fed by their keepers as you learn about the many little ones that have been saved.
Last, and certainly not least, meet the warm and welcoming grandmothers at the Kikuyu village and learn more about how the pig farm sustains their lives. Not only it provides a sustainable income, but it also provides power for their homes. The biogas system creates energy out of the waste and stops the grandmas from having to cut down trees to cook or keep their houses warm. You can also help out the grandmas make a cup of tea and other local delicacies like beans, ugali (a maize flour dish eaten across East Africa), and chapati (soft layered bread).
