The epitome of Belle Epoque style, Opera Garnier is quite a sight to behold. The gilded statues that sit on the roof are a clue to the opulence within, where elaborate chandeliers create the perfect glittering light to admire the sumptuous details. Nathalie, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The Opera Garnier opened in 1875. At the time it was the largest theatre in the world, seating over 2,000 people. Leroux’s novel, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ was set in this very opera house.’
Your tour begins with a guided visit to take in the lavish interiors of one of the most ornate and historic landmarks in the city. Led by your local guide, you’ll discover stories about Opera Garnier’s history, architecture, and significance in Parisian culture.
