Enjoy a visit to the house-museum of La Casade los Balcones, also known as Casa Méndez-Fonseca, built in 1632 (17th century). This house was kept in perfect condition by its different owners and it has shared its history and beauty with thousands of visitors and tourists from all over the world. The goal is to preserve the works and traditions of the Canary Islands, such as architecture, crafts, the making of typical costumes, alongside with Canarian customs and uses, history and folklore.
During this visit, you will discover the lifestyle of the family that lived in this house. The visit begins by going up a curious spiral staircase that from the patio communicates with the other two floors of the house. It stands out mainly for its central axis, made of a single robust piece of tea wood, 11.10 meters high and a uniform thickness of 16.5 cm in diameter. On the first floor you can see different rooms of the house, which house a large collection of old family objects.
Going downstairs, you will find a typical Canarian winery, a traditional element of the local wine production process. In addition, you can relax in the interior patio surrounded by an impressive wooden balcony made of Canarian pine, enjoying the pleasant sound of the water from the fountain and the song of the birds.
