During the tour you will visit the pictorial art collection of one of the main Austrian museums, and take a closer look at the canvases of Monet, Renoir, Malevich and Kandinsky while discovering answers to exciting questions raised by modernism and avant-garde.
Impressionism and expressionism, cubism and fauvism, it looks like the history of art is trying to confuse observers with an abundance of various ‘-isms’. Nevertheless, Monet’s Water Lilies need no commentary; they are capable of making an impression on their own. During this excursion, you won’t study the biographies of prominent artists or try to memorize the conceptual foundations of their art; you'll simply take pleasure in the pictures themselves and the disavowal of the art theorists’ intricacies.
You will start with Monet’s Roses and travel to Picasso’s Woman With Green Hat, dropping by at the branches of European modernism and Russian avant-garde and discussing the issues that help the observer to find their approach to understanding art. This tour is not about bewitching you with beautiful but empty adjectives or pointing аt the masterpieces. This is a narrative participatory experience offering you answers to your questions and making museum pieces meaningful to you.
