The AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the flagship wine of the area and one of the greatest French wines. Its origin dates back to the 14th century when Pope John XXII ordered the cultivation of the famous vineyard near his castle in Châteauneuf. Afterward, you’ll enjoy some Côtes du Rhône AOC wine in Gigondas, whose vineyard was the first to obtain the appellation Cru des Côtes du Rhône in 1971.
