A nature walk, a swim in the sea and a tasty Salento ice cream – this trip has all the ingredients for an ideal Italian morning. Take a coastal trek to Torre dell Orso watchtower, cool off with a dip in the Adriatic, then try a regional favourite food known as a rustico – a puff-pastry disc stuffed with tomato, mozzarella and fresh basil.
Set off from Sant'Andrea, and we'll take the short trek to Torre dell Orso. Surrounded by pine trees and pretty scenes over the Adriatic Sea, we'll make our way to this 16th Century watchtower that once played an important part in protecting the coast from pirates.
Located above a beautiful white-sand beach, you'll know we've arrived when you see the twin rock formations known as the Two Sisters rise out of the waters before you. Admire these natural stacks from the sand or up-close with a swim, and then dry off ready to return – but not before stopping to savour a well-earned ice cream.
