Germany's national poet, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, an unfailing and inspiring romantic and the genius of German classical literature, was born in Frankfurt. In spite of his successful political career as a high government official in Weimar, he remained closely connected to his hometown throughout his life. A literary but nevertheless entertaining walk in Goethe's footsteps illustrates his early life and times in Frankfurt, his many amorous adventures, his first literary attempts and his professional shortcomings. The tour includes a visit to the "Goethehaus“, where he was born. Today it accommodates a museum which sheds light on his opus, his manifold interests and a few of the more colourful members of the Goethe family household.
