Discover the splendid, pure, and wild nature of Black River Gorges National Park, a 67.54 km² expanse of untouched wilderness located in the southwest of Mauritius. Known as the “lungs of Mauritius,” the park aims to protect and raise awareness of the island's unique natural heritage and is home to some of the last remaining endemic forests, covering around 3.5% of Mauritius' total surface area.
Accompanied by an expert guide, guests will explore the hidden wonders of this world-unique eco-system while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views and changing micro-climates along the way. During the hike, discover several viewpoints overlooking different parts of the park and its surroundings. Halfway through the adventure, guests will also encounter the “Mare aux Joncs Gorge,” also known as the “Bats Valley,” where thousands of Mauritian Fruit Bats can often be observed.
