The inside story
Welcome to Giverny, Normandy. This small French village became famous thanks to Claude Monet, the impressionist painter (1840-1926) who lived there for over forty years. He made his home a place of inspiration and creation, where he left his mind free to imagine its future paintings. Today, the Monet Foundation opens of the artist's home but also the gardens, which inspired many colorful paintings, bathed in the light of spring or autumn. Over 400,000 visitors come each year from the whole world to experience the unique atmosphere of this place, protected by the Academy of Fine Arts.
